A Wanderer (A poem)

A Wanderer (A poem)

By Leo Kee Chye

Under the moonless night,
I walked down the lane of life,
Wandering aimlessly through
The darkness of the night.

Looking back,
I could only find
The reminiscence of footsteps I left behind.
Looking ahead,
I could only grope
My way in the dearth of light.

How I longed
For light to come within my sight.
How I wished
For just a glimmer of spark from the pitiless night.

But the darkness wasn’t broken.
And the night never woken.
Alas! I walked,
Perhaps, till the end of time
And till the end of life
Forever
Searching for that elusive
Light that will shine my
Lane of life.
